Black and White.....

Well, you know me---go to TJ MAXX just for a break from the routine and what do I find a black round tablecloth---Inspiration at its best.

Naturally that black tablecloth made into my shopping bag and home with me!

This afternoon with the sun shining ever so strong-I set the table for 5 in our garden. 5 you ask? Well, my husband broke the 6th chair a few weeks go-fell right on it and smashed it to bits. The Angels were on his side as he is fine---the chair, not so many angels......

The black dishes----IKEA
The black and white bowls--IKEA
The latern----IKEA.......okay okay I have to admit it: I am addicted to IKEA!
The place cards---TCHIBO....bought these so long ago and can now finally use them!
The tablecloth----TJ MAXX
The white dishes---Rosenthal---from our wedding some 23 years ago!

Pretty windy right now, so I did not trust taken the good stemware outside and the trusty everyday stuff was in the dishwasher!

Happy Tablescape Thursday Everyone......Till we meet again.....

Something Magical

Welcome back to New Recipe Sunday!

Today I would like to share with you something magical! Recently I was introduced to Magic Salt. Now, I have to admit when I had first heard about it, I thought it was a product that would help me get stains out my son´s filthy baseball pants! (Chuckle, chuckle...) As it turns out, I was wrong. Magic Salt is definitely  not for getting out stains...but is there to make your food taste out of this world. And if you are ever in a sad place, just open the jar of magic salt and breath in the aroma of rosemary, sage, garlic and the best sea salt you can find.

To make:

1 bunch of rosemary
1 bunch of sage
1 head of garlic

sea salt

chop all together in your food processor add enough sea salt to get a nice color---store in a glass jar. It is as simple as that. Be prepared....once your friends have experienced magic salt there is no going back..... :)

Mothers Day 2012

This past Sunday we celebrated Mother´s Day, here in Germany and in America. Since my husband spent it with his mother in Lingen(he is forgiven as my mother in law will be turning 90 in a few months!) I set the table and made lunch for my girlfriend Kim! Now, you make ask if only one person was coming for lunch, why set the table for 6? Simple---Tablescape Thursday! And yes I could have created a setting just for 2, but my big table was just screaming to be set for more! This tablescape is one of my favorites--I love how the pinks, reds, and whites all came together. My friends tease me all the time that I have soo much stuff....but when I get inspired and start putting a table together--I love that all I have to do is go in my basement store room to find all the goodies I need!

Napkins and Table Runner-Match!---Bought at the IHR Napkin Factory Outlet in Cloppenburg

Oh those delicious truffles from Kim and Paul---a thank you for taking care of Stella! I have to confess I ate every last one of them!(naughty, naughty but oh so worth the sin)

The following pictures are taken with our new camera! I am still learning how to use the camera we have......oh oh more studying ahead of me!

By far not perfect, but one of my favorites..

Do you see the m&m´s? Simply the best---edible table decorations that match the color scheme!

Two salt pots--one for regular salt and one for magic salt(recipe to come soon!)

Happy Thursday Everyone! It is a holiday here in Germany--so we are taking it easy and enjoying being lazy! See you all next week when it is time again to join susan for Tablescape Thursday over at Between Naps on the Porch!

Once again.....cupcake Sunday!

Hello Everyone! It has been a while since I have posted some new pictures and a very long time since I have added a recipe for the new recipe Sunday Blog party---just one of those things. However, this morning I finally took the time and tried out another Martha Stewart Cupcake Recipe---this time Chocolate Salted-Carmel Mini Cupcakes. You can find the recipe on her web site or in her book Martha Stewarts Cupcakes!

This was a premier on more than one level---first of course a new recipe to try out, but more importantly, I made caramel from scratch for the very first time!!!!! Wow, as always I was quite a doubting Thomas, but in the end success was mine.

As soon as the cupcakes were complete, they got packaged and delivered to my taste testers! Thanks goes out to the Wilkes, the Kulchyckyj´s and the Lehmans for willing consuming lots of cupcakes! No one has complained yet, so I think i can continue baking!

The Kitchen, after one has created cupcakes!

never fails....there are always dishes to be washed by hand....

There now, that looks better!

I will leave you with another view of those delicious cupcakes. Happy Sunday Everyone! Please do share your latest recipe with me here at New Recipe Sunday!
