Reunions are sweet

My years at the University of Illinois were probably some of the best years of my life. Not only did I get a great education, was lucky enough to be a member of the Marching Illini, but best of all, I met some of the greatest women I know.

Jennifer lives in Baden Austria

DyAnne lives in Seattle Washington

and I live in Berlin Germany

But for one great day, the three of us reunited in Baden Austria......just 23 years later.

We spent part of the day sightseeing through Baden, as DyAnne had studied there long ago and ended our day at a winery.....

A cheesecake for Tablescape Thursday

A couple years ago, I was in Poland shopping for pottery( I believe this was the trip where I said to my girlfriends, "I am only going to look, I am not going to buy anything!" Well, as everyone knows, that did not happen!!!! Among the many fine pieces I bought that day, the cake plate that you see in the pictures this week. SO, of course I created a tablescape around this cake plate! Now, I could not let this cake plate stand alone, so I whipped out the cheese cake that I have told you all about in the past and then I invited my friend Sabine over for coffee and cake..... a perfect Sunday afternoon.

Happy Days Everyone....please stop over at Between Naps on the Porch for more great Tablescapes this Thursday and if you have time, do stop by on Sunday for New Recipe Sunday!

Homemade Rolls

Greetings, so it has been a long time since I have been able to post to foodie friday......hope this post about the homemade rolls that we made, makes up for it!

Last Summer I invested in a kitchen machine called the THERMOMIX from VORWERK. Next to my kitchen aid, the best investment I have ever made here in the kitchen. This machine can do sooooooo much, and after such a short time, none of us would ever want to miss it. Heck, it even came with me at Christmas when the whole family got together! With 17 people, we needed 3 Machines!"!!!!! What a site that was.

Anyhow.......

My niece gave me this wonderful calender from Thermomix, filled with recipes and this weeks recipe are rolls. My machine and I were doing fine, the dough was perfect. But then it came time to form the dough into small rolls...oh oh.....thankfully my 17 year old saw my dilema, threw his homework to the wind and took over! (he works at the local pizza place and so has become a pro when it comes to dough!

16 perfect little rolls were made, placed in the fridge to slowly rise and after our quick trip to IKEA, we popped them in the oven and 20 minutes later, BINGO! We have rolls. They tasted great and now we are psyched to get creative and add different spices into the dough. Stay tuned for the outcome!

Mike forming the dough into perfect little rolls. How did he get them to all be the same?!

Fresh out of the oven  and ready to serve!

Next up? Some home made spreads to go enjoy with the rolls!

Happy Foodie Friday Everyone!

Because I am soo happy with these rolls and it has been a busy weekend, I am featuring this recipe today on New Recipe Sunday!

Silvester.....New Year´s Eve

Hi Everyone! Today is my day to work from home, so I am taking a few minutes to work on my tablescape entry for the week. This past new years my family traveled back to Cloppenburg to ring in the new year with my mom, my sisters, and their families! I think we were 12 plus Henry the dog! We all love our Christmas Dishes soo much, that we decided to make our Tablescape a New Years Eve with a Christmas Twist!
Dinner was Racellete. As you can see in the pictures, everyone had their own small pan to create delicious treats with, while the top of the racellete was to fry the meat.

Happy Days Everyone! Be sure to stop by on Sunday and share a new recipe with us!

Peanut Butter

Hi Everyone and Welcome to New Recipe Sunday----#2 for this 2013!

Today I would like to share with you something soo easy and soo good, you will never buy store bought again....PEANUT BUTTER!  Yes, that´s right...home made peanut butter. So good and what I like is I know what ingredients went into it. Simply peanuts and oil. NO extra yucky stuff

Ingredients:

400 grams peanuts

and a slosh of oil!

Now I used the thermomix to grind the peanuts, but any good quality food processor should do the trick also!

Christmas Day!

Okay, before anyone says anything---I know the table cloth is way too long and very NOT ironed!!! But we were in a hurry and I did not want my nephew-in-law to have to iron on Christmas! By the way that is Timo in the back round---quickly getting some pictures before the gang stormed through the door!

Love the wall unit in the backround.....it belonged to an aunt of ours and I am soooo happy that my niece gets to enjoy it!

The pretty Christmas dishes are from IKEA!

Oh, I do believe these are my favorite of all my decorations!

Recognize the lantern? Ikea of course and the best part, they have them in lots of colors!

Christmas was a hetic, crazy season this year. The whole family got spent the holidays together in Cloppenburg. All 17 of us! It was the first time in like forever that the entire family sat around a beautiful Christmas Tree.

January 05 2013!

Wow, is it really 2013 already? I certainly do not feel very 2013ish! Yesterday I took down the Christmas decorations....was it not just yesterday that I put them all up? Well, no sense in dwelling on it, time to jump with both feet into 2013, before another year slips by on me.

For the better part of December, I have been absent from Blogger world. Simply too much going on--at th office an at home and well then came the holidays and we were off to Cloppenburg(about a 4 hour drive to celebrate with family. You see, this year was something special......my mother was able to spend Christmas and New years with all her daughters and of course the husbands, boyfriends, girlfriends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren! Heck, even Henry the dog was a part of the party.

In the coming posts I would like to share with you some of the new recipes(New Recipe Sunday Blog Party here at cook bake love), some great tables(Tablescape Thursday at Between Naps on the Porch) and even a little pink!(Pink Saturday at How Sweet the Sound)

the stars of our family....the kiddies!

May 2013 be YOUR YEAR! 365 days to make lots of fun tablescapes, try out recipes, and make some special memories.  For my family 2013 marks some highlights. My husband will retire in May(Lord, stand by me!) and my son turns the big 18!!!!! Lots of planning for me to do. I pray that we all stay healthy and happy. Here´s to 2013! CHEERS!
