Slowly getting back on track

Hello Everyone!

I have been absent for awhile, due to major vertigo issues and a long recovery. Good news-MRI shows everything is okay! Dr.´s say I need to totally relax to recover. Next week I will also start reflexology--hoping that will help. I also have purchased a light therapy lamp--Dr.´s orders. They say it helps against the winter blues from which I suffer every winter. November is such a gray, gray month plus it gets dark so early now. Well anyhow, I am slowly getting over the dizziness-even decorated a cake yesterday.

Tomorrow I leave for Cloppenburg(about 4 hours away from me) to prepare the 80th birthday celebration of my mom. She is in germany visiting and we decided a thanksgiving dinner would be a great way to celebrate her 80 years.

Here´s to getting back on track, enjoying the holidays and happy blogging

A Thanksgiving Cheese Ball

Hey, Hey, it is Friday!!! Wow, yet another week goes speeding by on me....... On Thursday I prepared a Thanksgiving meal for Mary and her husband. I was in need of an appetizer and found this on www.food.com. I have to admit--my first Cheese Ball!!! And I have found a new web site to fall in love with!

The Recipe

Ingredients:

8 oz cream cheese
4 oz sharp cheddar cheese
2 oz blue cheese, crumbled
2 tablespoons onions, grated
1 garlic cloves, minced
4 worcesteshire sauce
1 (2 1/4 oz) cans green olives
1/2 cup pecans, chopped small

Directions:

1. In a food processor, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, blue cheese, garlic, onion, and worcestershire sauce. Process until well blended. Add olives, and pulse into asmall chunks.

2. Shape the mixture into a ball, and roll in the chopped pecans to coat. Wrap in plastic, and chill at least 4 hours in the refrigerator.

This truly is an easy recipe---now I added more garlic-will let you know how my cheese ball did in his debut last night!

Sometimes simple is good

Sometimes simple is good---or just a sign that this blogger is once again under the weather. The past 2 weeks I have been out of commission with vertigo issues. It seems the equilibrium in my right ear is destroyed. So after 3 hospital visits-I am now on medication and getting better. Gosh I hope I never experience that again-it was like being on a roller coaster that was going in 8 different directions. Thus, the reason for my table being so utterly simple this week. Just a table cloth I inherited from my mom. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day--thanksgiving is just around the corner!!!

Good News

Pretty in Pink!

This Saturday, I would like to share with you some good news. A new and dear friend just got back from her checkup at the oncologist. It was a good checkup--everything clear!!! Happy Days here in Berlin.

Sometimes simple is the way to go.
Last week I had my second "catering gig". This time just a "guys nite" That meant hamburgers on the grill-homemade french fries and some fresh veggies and fresh fruit! All went well and the guys enjoyed some good quality "MAN TIME"!!!

My favorite colors!

reetings Everyone! I hope you all had a happy halloween! This year we took our son out for a nice dinner instead of trick or treating from door to door--well he is 15 years old-so I guess those candy days are over!!
Trick or Treaters left a surprise for us when we got home--tooth paste all over the door knob.

Royal Garden

China Restaurant Royal Garden
Osdorfer Strasse 26
12207 Berlin-Steglitz

www.royal-china.de

Looking for a new place to eat? Like Chinese? Then, I have the place for you and your family. This past September we were invited to a birthday dinner at the Royal Garden. I must admit, I did not think that having a birthday party at a restaurant was such a cool idea-but boy was I wrong!! The birthday group was given a section of the restaurant-off from everyone-so that we had privacy. We were able to enjoy each others company, catch up with people we had not seen for a long time, and of course our taste buds were given an incredible treat!

The birthday boy ordered the Mongolisches Buffet for everyone. At 15,90 Euro a very, very good deal. As you can see in the pictures, the buffet was filled with EVERYTHING from simple chicken to fancy sushi.

I asked our guest of honor how he found this restaurant-he told us he had recieved a flyer in the mail one day and thought this would be a great place to eat. I thank that person who put the flyer in his mailbox!

So, should you be looking for a new place to try this coming weekend, do try out the Royal Garden!
