Love my gas grill

This week´s new recipe is something really really simple! Grilled Pound Cake with whipped cream and grilled watermelon.

Totally easy, especially for you all in America, as you can buy pound cake....I first baked my home. Which is a recipe i will share with you all soon....

Simply butter the pound cake from both sides and grill till golden brown.

The watermelon needs a little more prep work. First, slice and lightly salt the watermelon and let drain for about 30 minutes.  Second, rinse the watermelon slices and pat dry. Brush with olive oil and grill for about 5 minutes on high.

YUMMY!

Thanks for stopping by "New Recipe Sunday" I hope you are having a great summer day! Please take a moment and share a new recipe you have recently tried out.

Pizza on the Grill...YEA BABY

OMG, I think this was the best pizza I have ever had, if I do say so myself. As you may know, I have this magazine called "Pizza on the Grill". It is filled with wonderful pizza recipes and yesterday I finally got around to trying out another one of the recipes.

This week.......Kansas City BBQ Chicken Pizza.

The magazine says Kansas City is known for its BBQ Sauce, did not know that! Well, I am a little bit too far away to get some of Kansas City´s best, so I used the bbq sauce I had in the fridge(also very good).  The recipe called to grill the chicken first, so I used my secret rub and a little bit of olive oil. Oh it smelled so good, and since I was the grill master and not my husband...the chicken turned out perfect. While the chicken was on the grill, we prepared the pizza dough. My 17 year old son stepped and rescued the poor dough as I was tortuing the dough and he has worked at a pizza place.....

Once the chicken was sliced and the pizza dough was grilled on one side, we covered the pizza with sauce, topped it with chicken and grated colby jack cheese(thanks Miss Kim!). The job was finished with sliced red onions and orange bell pepper slices.

About 15 minutes later.........perfection. Served with a side salad and a great bottle of vino and we had a perfect evening.

You can buy the magazine at amazon.com :

Summer Flowers

This "Pink Saturday" I thought to share with you a picture of my flowers....just took this one. I bought these geraniums at IKEA early in the season...what a deal I think one container was 2.98€. So I bought three(could not carry more and I was too lazy to go get a cart) I soo wish I had bought more as these have turned out to be the best plants in the garden this year. Anyways, we are lucky enough to have some good weather--the plants are loving it and so am I.

Happy Pink Saturday Everyone. Be sure to stop by tomorrow for New Recipe Sunday---will be sharing a great new recipe with you all.

In the mean time, be sure to stop over at How Sweet the Sound for some more PInk!

4th of July Garden

Today was garden day! It was time to get rid of those nasty weeds, mow the lawn and general clean up! I was out before 8 this morning---I am sure the neighbors loved me!

our front steps----tried my best with lots of planters....the construction crew will not be here till the end of August to redo the steps...

okay, now before you think I am off my rocker for having a big stick decorate my front enterance, let me tell you why it is there. My great-nephew Felix was visiting last weekend and he found it in the forest--carried it all the way home himself...He was soo proud to find it and I was pretty amazed too--pretty smart 4 year old!

my favorite this year---the small flower boxes all in white

Hostas....gotta love them

Party Favors

Every Party is not complete without a party favor........

On May 31, 2013 my husband retired from active duty as a lt. colonal in the german air force. Since we had not truly had a big party in about 24 years(our  wedding was the last really big bash), we decided a retirement party was in order! Of course, for all of you who know me, I started planning like almost a year in advance!

I decided the theme colors would be blue for the airforce. Blue candles, blue ballons, blue candy and of course lots of blue in the goodie bags....because you are never to old for goodie bags!

Step One......order rubber duckies at BUCK A DUCK. COM
Step Two......be lucky enough to fly to Chicago and while there go shopping at party express. My sister and I had a great time picking out fun favors... We found whirly birds(my husband was a helicopter pilot), Waterpistols(every soldier has a gun.), Compass Rings for the wives(so that they always can find their husbands...), and my sister´s favorite parachute men.
Step Three.....fly back to Berlin and get busy!!!!

the goodies

My good ole shredder(thanks Michele) made perfect party favor bag stuffing material

blue bags

the goodies.....

packed and ready

40 Bags in all....

Make sure to stop by again for more posts about the party

Happy Days Everyone!

a 60th Birthday Celebration

On April 29, 2013, my brother in law(well technically my ex-brother in law) turned 60. His children decided that was a good enough reason to celebrate with the family. I have know Bernhard now for over 30 years, so ex or not he is still family to me and of course we made the 4 hour trip from Berlin to Cloppenburg to celebrate with him.

The luncheon was at a great place in Bethen, but we all went to Mareike (daughter nr. 1) and Timo´s house for coffee and cake and the best.....presents!

Confetti ....... always have to have confetti!

Thanks to Pinterest, his daughters found a great this great idea. We had a lot of fun looking for pictures.

His Daughter Heidi put together this great poster

Quality Street......his favorite candies

his in-law´s (me, my sister heidi and my mom) gave him a great watch

We had a great day and we all look forward to the next 60 years!!!
