Roses are pink........

Hello Everyone and welcome to "An American in Berlin" this Saturday! It is 8:39 am here in Berlin and I am enjoying some quiet time before my son and husband awake and the chaos of Saturday begins! Somehow Saturdays never are quiet-there is always something to do and let us not forget Baseball Practice! It is still too cold to do any garden work, after all it is only February, so I will spend some time trying to clean the oven(it got a total work out this past week and deserves some tender loving care. Of course there is always laundry and dusting and vacuuming! But before all this happens I am going to sit here at my kitchen table and enjoy a cup of tea and spend some time looking at all the wonderful entries for Pink Saturday--a blog party I much enjoy every Saturday, so thanks again Beverly for hosting this event every Saturday  .http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/

These are the last of my pink roses, I think they look pretty neat in this new type of vase that my sister gave me for Christmas!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and see you all next week!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

 "The Ingredients"

 "Ready for the oven"

"Cooling--oh the wait till the cookies are cool enough to eat!"

ENJOY!

I recently subscribed to "america´s test kitchen"  http://www.americastestkitchen.com/  Totally cool site. I had  not yet heard about this web site, till I saw the show.(okay I know I am behind the times here in Germany).  The episode I happened to watch was testing cookies-including my favorite-"Chocolate Chip Cookies". Up until now I have been faithful to one recipe, but....... now I have a new one to add to my recipe book. This morning I baked up a batch for my family. The kitchen smells soo good and the cookies are oh so yummy! I am sure my son will be very happy when he comes home this afternoon.

Please check out this great web site for the recipe!

Happy Valentines Day 2011

So, how was your Valentines Day? Mine was pretty quiet-but good. The usual work around the house and in the kitchen took up most of my morning and then in the afternoon, my son and I got to go to the dentist to for our semi-annual check up. I am over the moon happy to tell you that we both got glowing reports!!!!! No cavities, no this tooth has to be pulled!!!-just nice clean teeth!!! To celebrate our success and valentines day, we went to the mall for some retail therapy and sushi!!

Have a wonderful day everyone! When you have a moment, do stop by Between Naps on the Porch for more tablescapes this Thursday.

A friend of mine surprised me with M&M´s in Valentines Day Colors--just in time for this tablescape!

Little Crates for Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Everyone!

remember when I posted some pictures of the Little Crates for Christmas that my sister had made? Well, one blogger asked me what we were doing for Valentines Day. Yesterday I had some time and came up with a prototype-even made home made cookies! Shows you what you can get done when you set your mind to it!

One of my favorite meals

One of my favorite meals is Chicken Marsala and Orzo with Parmesan and Basil. And as all my weekend guests know-it is one of the meals I do best. So when my niece and her family came to visit this past week, of course Chicken Marsala was on the menu!

I am sure you all have heard of allrecipes.com? Well a few years ago they published "all recipes Cookbook". A book compiled of recipes from the web site.

Hot Lips----I mean pink Lips!!

While out sightseeing with my family last week, we came across these pink lips in the french department store Lafayette in Berlin.http://www.galerieslafayette.de/
Immediately I thought of  Beverly at How Sweet the Sound and her blog party pink saturday!

As always to take a moment and visit Beverly over at How Sweet the Sound

Found a new hobby-OH OH!!!!

Thanks to my niece I have new hobby!!! The name of the company is GONIS and it is of course a craft company     .http://www.gonis.de. Even though it is in german-do check it out for wonderful ideas and inspiration.

Here is an example of my first works! The company GONIS has wonderful, small but cute glass lanterns -just add some of the special paint--some sparkles and a tea light and volia!  What is great about this--you can change the colors to match any tablescape you create. All you have to do is scrape off the paint and start anew-although I must admit I am already finding that hard to do!
