Happy 15th Birthday
I hope your Thursday is turning out to be everything you hoped for. As I wrote yesterday my day is going to be just a touch nerve-wracking as I am doing my first catering job! I am nervous and excited all at the same time!!
Yesterday my son turned 15 and instead of cake(which is ironic as I decorate cakes!!!) he asked for an oreo cookie pie---for breakfast!

A cup of Java
This weeks entry for Foodie Friday comes with a story! Last year the embassy community said farewell to a wonderful family-who were being transfered to Turkey. The Caseys---all 4 of them wonderful people. A good friend and co-worker of Tim´s decided to give them a farewell party and enlisted my help. My answer-a send off-türkish style!!! We had all sorts of wonderful dishes from home made Hummus to Lamb. Throw in some decorations-open some bottles of good wine---invite a great group and you have everything you need for a great party. ANYWAY, as a thank you the Casey´s sent me a care package from Instanbul---which leads me to my entry--TÜRKISH COFFEE.
Although both my husband and I know how to brew a regular cup of java--we had never had türkish coffee-three cheers for the internet and the web site CoffeeGeek(http://coffeegeek.com/guides/turkishcoffee)-with the directions printed out-we embarked on a new adventure---and what do you know-minutes later we sat down and enjoyed our first cup of Java Joe-türkish style.
Thanks Casey Family for coming into our lives! The world is small and I have the faith that one day we will all meet again!
Wishing everyone a happy Friday! Please take a moment-enjoy a cup of Java and visit other Foodies!

Apples anyone?
Pumpkin Time
Welcome to Buschamnn/Winkelmann Spargelhof in Klaistow. This is where I go with my family to buy our pumpkins! There is so much more to do than just buy pumpkins. There is of course the Pumpkin Festivities--every year the people at Buschmann/Winklemann create all sorts of statues using pumpkins-truly a site to see. When you are done looking at pumpkins, stop in the Hof restaruant for something to eat and drink. During the pumpkin season you can get various dishes all made from pumpkin. For the children and the young at heart there is a wonderful playground and of course there is a petting zoo and a shoppe where I always find something I need!!
How to get there:
Aus Richtung Osten / Berlin ZentrumA 10 aus Richtung Frankfurt/Oder bis zum Dreieck Potsdam Hier in Richtung Hannover/Hamburg, weiter auf der A 10, fahren Dann die Ausfahrt Glindow/Klaistow nehmen und nach links in Richtung Klaistow abbiegen Nach ca. 1 km liegt auf der rechten Seite unsere Halle (mit Fachwerkgiebel)
From Berlin:
A10 till Dreieck Potsdam---take the exit Hannover/Hamburg(you stay on the A10---then take the exit Glindow/Klaistow and turn left towards Klaistow. App.1 km down the road you will find the Hof on the right side!
