Buble in Berlin
Last Friday we were lucky enough to spend the evening at the O2 World to experience Michael Buble live in Concert! It was fantastic. Within a short amount of time, he had the people on their feet, dancing and singing along! No one was sitting-and the arena was sold out. The group Naturally 7 opened for Michael. I had never heard of them before, but after just one song they had won a new fan! Actually 3--as my husband and son were amazed at the talent of this group.

White Trash
Happy Foodie Friday Everyone.
Once again this has been a crazy week-so instead of featuring one of my favorite recipes, I would like to tell you about a restaurant that we discovered a few weeks ago. White Trash is located in Prenzlauer Berg here in Berlin. What makes this place different is that the building is an old chinese restaurant-the owners left all the decorations from the previous owners, put in a small stage and got a bunch of old chairs and tables! This is a good place to go when you do not want to get dressed up!!! The food was fantastic. My husband had flank steak---I was speechless. Flank Steak here in Germany. I almost went into the kitchen to ask where they got the meat!!! I had the fried chicken-yummy! The others all enjoyed a great burger and we all enjoyed fantastic cocktails.
Herzlichen Glückwünsch!

A special guest this Tabelscape Thursday
I have a friend on FB, who posted some pictures of a holiday dinner party last Christmas. I saw these pictures and became a fan of the person who set this table. It was elegant-not pretentious- simply down to earth beautiful. I needed to know more! So I wrote to my friend Kim and asked her all about it. She confessed that she was not the author of this Tablescape but a friend of hers- Claudia. She kindly passed on my request to feature the table here at Tablescape Thursday. YES! Claudia said sure and emailed me the pictures and some information on the how´s and the why´s.
So, sit back and enjoy this Tablescape Thursday, kindly hosted as always by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.
The wine glasses are all flea market finds and are called “Römer Glaser”. They are German and date from the 50’s to 70’s. You do not find these at every flea market-but the "hunt" for these treasures is of course part of the fun. As Claudia wrote to me in her email, "I do believe that if you have a limited budget collecting things are more fun and exciting as you need to work harder and it generally brings you to markets and shops that you would never generally go into."
Claudia found the colored glassware at various second hand "bazaars" here in Berlin. These bazaars offer items really cheap and you can find the most fabulous things. She mentioned to me that it was her love of glass that inspired her to buy some of the individual items. Once home, she grouped them together, put tea lights in and was amazed at the effect-as one can see from the pictures. Over time her collection has grown!
Flea Markets are great places to find things and when you start to mix and match you create something wonderful.
I think I will close this post for today-so that I can go check out those stores that Claudia shops at!!!!
Once again many thanks to Claudia for sharing this beautiful Tablescape with me. I hope I will be able to share more of her designs with you in the future.
See you all next week!

Will and Grace
Project One: Will and Grace. Our brother and sister pair of cats are going to be three years old come June. They are the best kitties in the world! Grace has been the cause of many vet visits and sleepless nights(car accident in 2009 and now chronic gastritis) but I would not want to trade her for the world.
After a round with the new toy, Will attacks the scratching post! Whatever was in this pillow-it made the two of them extremely high!

Happy Thursday
Wow, I just made it. I have been out of commission this week due to dental surgery and had not planned on participating on this Thursday. BUT, I am feeling better today and got inspired with some new goodies I had bought earlier in the week.
This tablescape idea came when I was in one of my favorite stores Strauss Innovations. The pink martini glasses are acrylic and perfect for future outdoor parties! The weather is still not so hot, so I set the table inside. The colorful tablecloth also comes from Strauss. The small orange candles are in glasses that came from IKEA(yet another fav of mine). The bottle of pink lemonade was discovered at TJ MAXX . And did you see something familiar at this table? Yep-my orange plates once again!!
Have a happy day everyone

A Friday Evening
Happy Friday Everyone!
wow-this week flew by!!! This evening my son is having a friend come over after baseball practice so I am cooking---Chicken Spaghetti from the Pioneer Womans Cookbook! Of course her guacamole and pico del gallo are also on the menu!!!
The poison of choice for the evening: 2009 Pinotage Cabernet Sauvignon from the South Africa Vineyards Edition.
It is promising to be an enjoyable evening!!! Now if the weather would only play along. It is only 12 degrees Celsius outside! Way too cold for this time of the year.
Here´s to a successful weekend! Prost!!

a relaxing holiday afternoon
It is a holiday here in Germany and after a morning of garden work, I decided an afternoon of dedicated to scrapbook work would be a good idea-as always I am very far behind!!!! While Will is out chasing mice, Grace decided to help me!

Potato Bread-Kartoffelbrot
Happy Foodie Friday Everyone...hard to believe it is the middle of May already. It is so cold here in Germany--only in the 50´s. We have tried to have some bbq´s ....but not so much fun when the Grillmeister has to stand alone at the grill while the rest are inside! Hopefully it will warm up soon. In the mean time I have been trying out recipes in my test kitchen!
This week Cynthia Barcomi´s Potato Bread......
